A quick trick to reignite yourself

I put music on, my training gear and hop onto the cross trainer with my headphones and away I go. I'm not even really focussed on the fitness aspect of it but for that hour I am in complete bliss. I call it going “off planet.”. It's one of my spaces to daydream. I also like doing it on dog walks or sometimes when I am doodling. My mind goes off in a million little directions and I completely let it. I day dream about so many things like different lives I might like to live, different interests, where I'd like go and all that stuff. Basically anything that I find remotely interesting I use this time to day dream about it. I've had so many ideas in this space that it's become an invaluable resource for my growth not just as a psychic but as a business owner and creative. I let my ego run wild for no other purpose than to see what story I might be telling myself underneath it all. Iv'e caught older versions of my belief system still ticking away and even hold habits holding me to old goals. It's been fascinating, enlightening and most of all fun.

We are told not to day dream as we grow up and we are so often told that it as a childish pursuit. I am so grateful that I had the mother I did that intuitively gave me room to continue. My mum calls it her “little bubble”. She describes it as a ball of light that makes the world go away and off you go into your own mind. Don't confuse it as a means to escape your life, although there are certain aspects of that. To be honest escaping isn't always a bad thing anyway so long as you don't attempt not to come back! Also when you really let yourself dream in a way that is child-like to go right back to the space of infinite potential. So many of my paintings have come from that space. So many stories have come from that space. I just love what it brings to my life. Our current culture has an addiction to technology in a way that no longer leaves room for this sort of thing. We check our facebook feeds so often that we don't sit and bus stops, wander through the city or relax for a cup of tea and let our minds wander any more. I understand that, especially as an independent business, I need to be connected but I also need to grow and in order to do that I need space to dream.

This kind of day dreaming is not about co creation. It really isn't intentional in any way other than giving yourself the room to allow it. I also find it unwinds me. So much of my day is about focus and utilising my time to it's best advantage it's nice to have that space to think about crazy, stupid, weird and wonderful things. Think of this space as a play zone where you can rediscover what makes you happy because what makes your heart sing changes so much throughout your life. I take a notepad and pen with me wherever I go, always have done and on my dog walks in the space of my own mind I've come up with so many insights that it's become another favourite part of my day. Give yourself room to daydream today. Put your phone down after this, grab a cuppa if you have access and just relax into your mind. Play, dream, what did you want to be when you grew up? Do you ever plan on growing up? No? Awesome! Take this exercize lightly and work it in and around your routine. If you're already doing this try recording it's effects and I think you'll be surprised how much it impacts your life.
