Candles are lit and incense is quickly filling the room. I have done my meditations and I am about to create something so I have beads, pictures and words scribbled down on scraps of paper. I am about to make a talisman. Now a talisman is a symbolic representation of something you want to create. It's a sort of manifestational reminder to keep your focus on the creation of whatever it is you want to create. Over the years I have made many talismans, mojo bags and I love the whole process. I felt the urge to create one again recently so I thought I would talk to you guys about it and maybe inspire you to give it a go. I believe in magic, I truly do but not he Harry Potter kind. I believe that we have intention and the capacity to exact that intention through stepping into the symphonic tapestry of the world around us. The dialogue of intuition can bring us to the things we want or at the very least help us to see that the things we want are actually only stepping stones to get the things we really need. Creating a talisman is a process and I personally enjoy all aspects of it.
You start by gathering items, things that are in sympathy with the object of your desire. Think of a talisman as kind of like a key you are creating to open the door to what you want. If you want a new house maybe gather pictures of the types of homes that you like? Think about what you would want that home to smell like, what carpet would you like, what curtains, patterns and all the wonderful little pieces you would like to line your nest with. If you want a lover then think about how you would like to feel during that interaction and create from that space. Really go into detail. Then comes the creative bit, what would you like to make? You can use a small bag to put everything in or for me personally I sometimes like to fold things into origami. I've done everything from gluing beads together, sewing herbs into little figures and everything in between. The point is simply to create a symbolic representation of your desire. Once it's done write your own prayer but here's the tricky bit, write the prayer from the position of already having what you want. That's the knack. Create a little ritual if you like, call in your angels, burn candles, do whatever is in alignment with your own spiritual practice. There are no real rules here and then find a way to keep your talisman with you at all times.
The reason to keep it with you as much as you can is to literally offer you a constant reminder to stay in the feeling place of what it is that you want. When I was generating more cash in my experience I created a talisman that I worked into a key ring of sorts. Each time I left my home I would see the key ring and be reminded that money was already in my experience and I was lining up with it. Sometimes when cash is a little fragmented I get the talisman back out and sit back and watch as cash turns up! It doesn't turn up like “poof”! But I will get more clients, more art sales and this year I even got an unexpected cheque! It all comes to you if you put the time and effort in. So the question becomes what is it that you want to ask the universe for? What is it that you want? What do you want to make to symbolise that and how can you make it transportable?
