Who do you pray for?

As Stuart leaves the house each morning to go to work I am in the habit of saying a small prayer for him. I pray for his happiness, I pray for his safety, I pray for his spirit and his joy and for him to find things throughout the day that he needs to express the person he is. Then, before I do my readings I always take a small chunk of time to pray for everyone else in my life. I pray for my mum, my auntie, the rest of my family, my friends and of course myself. Prayer for me is not about “wishing” or using the Universe as a giant catalogue. Prayer is about connecting with the light at the centre of the Universe and asking that you be used as a vessel for that light to be spread around your life. The space of prayer is that platform for my spiritual practice. It is the acknowledgment that you are being lived as well as living your life. The Universe, God, whatever your name is for the love based conscious energy that is us is working and expressing itself through you and prayer is a way of remembering that. Focusing on that truth on a regular basis is fundamental for my practice as a spiritual person.

As most of you know when I do a reading I read your auras and right at the top of the crown chakra ( above your head ) is where I see the translateable portion of your spiritual dialogue. What I've found over the years is that the clients who pray have a clearer connection to that part of themselves which allows for a deep intrinsic healing and a much more authentic relationship with their inner dialogue. Prayer allows light into the essence of who you are, it also allows who you are to be seen, really truly seen, first by yourself and then by those around you. It is the initial act of vulnerability that opens doors you don't even know need opening yet. I pray every day, I've even written a small book on it that I am editing and working on now. Whenever someone asks me what they need to do to develop spiritually I mention prayer. Not just praying but, finding the space of prayer that is real divine communication. Prayer ultimately is a two way street and the more you pray the more you will open yourself up to the advice and guidance from your spirit.

So, my advice? Pray. Pray for the people in your life. Pray for the people you love but don't just do it mechanically. Take some conscious, mindful time to sit in the space of prayer. Do you feel guided to pray for a certain person today? Do you feel drawn to pray over a certain aspect of your life? Step into that space and you'll see such a quick connection with your intuition that you'll soon be praying over everything all the time. I work little reminders into my day for prayer. I take my prayer beads on dog walks, I hold them when I drink my coffee and each time I leave my house I say a small prayer. Create a routine of reminders to pray but be sure to keep the prayers themselves fairly fluid. Remember, that when you begin to invite the light in you'd better be ready for the grace that it brings. Praying has changed my life and to be honest it continues to change it today. Everything moves in the direction of light when you start praying so start today!
