Do you know a sufferer of U.M.H? Have you ever even heard of it? Let me explain. U.M.H is Uninvited Medical History. Those people who are going to tell you about every ache and pain whether you want to hear about it or not. Know someone like that? Read on...
Now you all know I love a good stroll around the park with my dog. It's my time to relax and to pray and every now and again I'll stop and chat to someone. A fellow dog owner, a friend and sometimes I even see a client or two in there. I love my local park and the trees and I are now very good friends. There is, however, every now and again a few faces that I like to avoid. These are the people who, without provocation , a question or even a “hello!” at times will instantly divulge their entire medical history within seconds. We all know or have met someone like this. A few weeks ago in under a minute one such park traveller regailed me of about 7 medical issues he was currently dealing with and I swear to you I hadn't even said hello. I have met a lot of people like this and for years I just put it down to me being a healer but when I spoke to my friends about it, it turns out that it's not just me. We all have known someone who loves to do nothing else but complain about how ill they are. Even if they aren't that sick, they will embellish upon every bruise they have to give it that special dramatic flare. Do you have someone in mind in your life already that does this? Haha, thought so.
Now I am not saying people should suffer in silence. Nor am I saying that we shouldn't listen when someone is in genuine pain but let's be honest, those that really are suffering rarely want to make a song and dance about it. I permanently revoked my invitation to every pity party I could find in my life years ago. Even clients who expect or at times demand my sympathy are often shocked when it doesn't come. I empathise I don't sympathise. I will assist you in your own healing with every fascet of my being but I wont or cant take responsibility and do it for you. I know this may sound a tad dramatic but I often compare these kinds of people to energy vampires. They want something from you, they want an energy exchange that uplifts them at your expense. I know that I have written this blog a little tongue in cheek but the energy exchange that happens when you interact with these people can be damaging, especially if you are unaware of what is going on. I recently asked a woman in Tesco, very politely, if she could move slightly so I could grab some quorn. She obliged willingly and then out of the blue decided to let me know all about her knee operations. The energy exchange was rank and me and my quorn sausages left pretty quickly. Walk away from these people in every way you can. If you are in any way vulnerable, emotionally upset or energetically sensitive then be all the more vigilant. Your energy is worth protecting.
I sometimes go for a walk after a lot of readings to settle my energy back down and these are times when I need to keep an extra eye out. If you are around someone who is exhausting you, if you chat with someone who ends up making you feel terrible or my favourite, when you catch yourself saying... “I don't have the energy to talk to her/him today.” then these are the people you need to keep an eye on. Your energy exchange with them in unhealthy and hurting you. When you become aware of this and when you start supporting yourself first you'll be surprised how many of these people will fall away from you or they simply won't appear on your radar any more. Your energy is for you, once your cup is full it will automatically spill over and touch the lives of all of those around you. You matter. Your energy and well being matters. If someone is depleting you walk away. If you bump into someone who beings a total winge-fest...run! Protect yourself as best you can. Pray. Meditate. Utilise the peace you have access to and value what you have.
Thank you for listening,
Big Love,
Ryan James
